Stand with Macy’s Workers!

Thursday, August 30 12 noon to 2 pm Bellis Fair Mall Macy’s, Bellingham

Macy’s workers, members of United Food and Commercial Workers 21 (UFCW 21), have been negotiating a contract since April.
Last week they voted by a 99.5% margin to reject the contract offer. Management proposed taking away their salary scale and making workers use vacation time for sick leave. Macy’s wants to base wage increases on merit pay, a system very open to favoritism by the boss. The wage proposal that Macy’s supports would mean no wage increase for half of the workers! Workers are also justly concerned about low staffing levels and its effect on safety in the workplace. Several years ago there was a mass shooting in the Burlington Macy’s store.
